Lance Gracy
Lance H. Gracy, Ph.D., is a Marine veteran and board-certified philosophical counselor-educator with the American Philosophical Practitioners Association. His scholarly works have appeared in Religions, Philotheos, Philosophy East and West, and elsewhere. Dr. Gracy’s journey to self-understanding began with a tremendous spiritual experience while serving as a Marine infantryman in 2013. Since then, he has been living out a spiritual-intellectual vocation–one inspired by the life of St. Francis of Assisi, who was himself a veteran and one of history’s greatest exemplars of the “warrior in the garden” ethos–to reach others with the truth, wisdom, and love of the inspired word. Dr. Gracy’s philosophical practice works with issues pertaining to veterans, meaning, fulfillment, depression, and anxiety. Utilizing models of philosophical midwifery and philosophical husbandry, he aims to instill the virtues of understanding in his clients so for them to resolve life-related problems and questions with intelligence, wisdom, trust, and artfulness. When away from the office, he enjoys drinking stout beers, tinkering with his watches, working around the farm, reading military history, enhancing his skills as an amateur dog breeder, and spending time with his wife, Elizabeth, and their five children: Alice Anne-Thérèse, Daniel Joseph-Marie, Edith Clare, Francis Jude, and Margaret Rose.
